How it arises
Toxic shock syndrome is caused by staphylococcal bacteria, which are normally found on our skin. Only in the worst case can it begin to produce toxins, poisons that can be harmful to our body. And once the toxins get into the bloodstream, the body can fall into shock. However, such cases are rare and do not always have anything to do with tampons. You don't have to worry about toxic shock syndrome, it only occurs if you let the bacteria live in your body for a long time. And that's really just a few cases.
How to recognize toxic shock syndrome
The symptoms
are very similar to those of the flu. You may have chills, fever, nausea, vomiting, low blood pressure and dizziness, but even a rash is not uncommon in the advanced stages. Treatment is with antibiotics. Untreated or neglected conditions can lead to organ failure and blood circulation.
It does not exclusively affect women
People mistakenly believe that toxic shock syndrome only affects women using tampons. But the opposite is true. People with diabetes can also be affected, or in fact anyone who comes into contact with the bacteria and has a wound that enters the bloodstream. Thus, it does not always have to be a transfer through the thin tissue of the vagina.
